Fire Base Rob During the Cambodian Invasion, 1970

We ran road security with the dusters of Charlie and Bravo Batteries, 5/2 Artillery, between Dong Xoi and Song Be during the Cambodian invasion. Dong Xoi had an ARVN base and Song Be was the forward operating base for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

The 1st Cav hauled huge stores of enemy arms and equipment out of Cambodia. The Engineers had to build a road into "Rock Island East" to get trucks in to haul it away. It took nine days of convoys to to move the material into South Vietnam. We happened across a display of the captured weapons at Phuoc Vinh.
