Don Miller's Photos of Di An and Fire Base RobDon Miller knows he served with Delta Troop and thinks it was between November 1969 and January 1971. Like all of us, he reserves the right to amend his recollections. He hopes that other troopers can clear up some of the fuzz that has arisen after 30 years' time. Lots of us can confirm that the following pictures were taken at Di An. But LT Bob Bennett, 2nd platoon leader from July 1969 to July 1970, saw Don's pictures and was able to come up with a number of names of the troopers in Don's pictures. His additions are noted in the picture captions. ![]() Your Host - Don Miller ![]() The Delta Troop Sign at Di An ![]() The Annie Fannies were the 1st Platoon, 117th AHC. ![]() PFC Lanier, 2nd Platoon, at Di An ![]() A Delta Troop Squad Saddles Up ![]() Moving Out ![]() Hall Wins the Lottery, Gets to Hump the 60 ![]() The Delta Troop Taxi ![]() Jungle-Rules Volleyball. Delta Troop replaced a battalion at Rob to secure a road for the 1st Cav's Cambodian campaign. Bill DeMusey's notes indicate that Delta Troop was at FB Rob from the end of May to the beginning of July 1970. Bob Bennett says that Fire Base Rob was between Phuoc Vinh and Song Be at a Montagnard village noted on the map as "Bunard". There was an airstrip there on which the Air Force dropped supplies by flying low across the air strip and kicking pallets off the ramp without landing: ![]() LT Bob Bennett, 2nd Platoon, and Danny Smith Getting the Dirt out of Somebody's Hole ![]() Jeep Patrol with Donald Lanier driving, and CPL Clarke (Catfish) Rogers without a shirt ![]() A Bemused Joe Malseed Rides Shotgun as He and His Buddies Solicit ![]() Jungle-Rules Laundry ![]() At Least the Water in the Field Was Less Murky Thanks Cathy The graphics and intellectual property at this site are the private property of the donors exclusively, and are protected by copyright law.
