Saddling Up for Nhon Trach

Delta Troop was always going to Nhon Trach. The Blue Tigers first went there in 1968, and last left it in 1971. We tried mounted recon, dismounted recon, the old Ranger/Blue Tiger combination, daylight sweeps, night ambushes, sniper stay-behind ambushes, and thunder runs. We threw mortars, artillery, ARA, tracks, Sheridans and flame tracks at it. We went at it alone, with reinforcing armor, with attack helicopter companies, with AF bombing runs, with ARVN companies, and with Ruff-Puffs.

In late April 1970, two platoons of the Blue Tigers were at Nhon Trach with the 2/47th Mech of the 9th Infantry Division. After a May and June interlude for the Cambodian invasion, the Blue Tigers returned to Nhon Trach in July 1970.

I believe these pictures were taken in July 1970 at Di An as the Blue Tigers packed up for a return engagement at Nhon Trach. If you find a buddy, please let me know his name so we can add it to the captions of the pictures.
