A Note from Bob Bennett, Blue Tiger 20, 1969-1970A lot of the prose and all the heavy duty research, not to mention the construction of these pages, is the work of Bill Nevius. I have yet to meet him in person, but I am very proud to call him "brother" and "friend". I sent him "a big pile of 8X10 color glossy photographs (well, they were 4X6's actually), with circles and arrows on the back tellin' what each one of them is." (at least what I could remember - Arlo Guthrie, forgive me this plagiaristic aside) He managed to put everything in a logical sequence and flesh out a lot of background research that relates what we did to the bigger picture of what went on over there. Some of the seriously bent humor is his. It's one of the things I like about him. The lightness of many of the comments relieves the pressure. It was a dark time for many of us, but we survived and continue to live our lives. When they get your sense of humor, guys, THEY WIN! These pages are dedicated to you, gentlemen, the Officers and Men of Delta Troop, 3/17th Air Cavalry. It is our responsibility to remember everyone. You served with honor and distinction. I am simply happy to have been a small part of it. |
